Private servers are hosted by players and are closed once the creator has left the server (once he does, everyone else get's kicked from the match). These private or "custom" servers were added on the 14th of the 6, 2012 [6/14/2012] and were announced via the BLR blog.
Customer servers allow player to change what gamemode, map, amount of players and spectators the server allows along with a password system.
You will earn 10x less GP and XP by playing games in private servers. If you would get 210 GP normally and 3120 XP, you would get 21 GP and 312 XP. Bonuses like the 300/500XP for losing and winning games is also now 30 and 50 for losing
